Drought Growing Worse In Mississippi
UNDATED ( WCBI) – Some areas saw rain the past few days but the impact of the dry weather is actually getting worse. The latest graphs from the U.S. Drought Monitor show the drought is actually spreading in Mississippi.
A comparison of the maps from November 8th and November 15th show the area of extreme drought has expanded greatly stretching from North Mississipi all the way to the Mississippi River near Vicksburg. The exceptional drought area remains essentially unchanged with Monroe County remaining the hardest hit county in the state. Overall 91% of the state’s topsoil is below recommended levels
