Bank Worker Busted In Brazen Counterfeit Scheme

BATESVILLE (WCBI) – A former teller at a North Mississippi bank is free on bond after answering federal charges of counterfeiting and embezzlement.

44 year old Crystal Gill of Batesville told a federal judge Thursday she is not guilty of stealing from the BancorpSouth branch in Batesville. A two count indictment says Gill took $15,000 in counterfeit money and swapped it for $15,000 of real money from the bank’s vault. The second count accuses Gill of embezzling nearly $4,000 from a customers account at the bank. She is free on bond following her initial appearance.
