Woman Charged with Burglary in Prentiss CO

PRENTISS CO, Miss. (WCBI)- A frantic homeowner calls 911 just in time, and now a woman faces burglary charges in Prentiss County.
Kelly Michelle Nichols, 35, was arrested and charged with attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling, and simple assault on an officer. She also faces several misdemeanor traffic offenses.
The Prentiss County Sheriff’s deputies received a burglary call, at around 4 A.M., Thursday. Investigators say the homeowner fired two shots through the door moments before deputies arrived.
When law enforcement got there, they saw the suspect in a dark vehicle–trying to pull out of a carport. When deputies attempted to stop Nichols, they say she almost rammed one of the patrol cars, while exiting the driveway.
The deputies pursued the suspect for a short time, before Nichols wrecked the car on East Circle 1390. When Nichols was caught and arrested, she was wearing one glove and a bandanna around her neck.
Nchols remains in jail, with a $10,000 bond on the felony charge, and $6,000 bond on the misdemeanor charges.
