VIDEO: Law Enforcement Hand Out Gun Safety Kits
COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)—The Columbus Police Department and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s office work together to bring a message of safety to the community.
Saturday at Leigh Mall, from 10-12, law enforcement agencies along with Columbus Fire and Rescue, set up shop to give away free safety information and gun locks to residents.
This event is apart of the nationwide firearm safety education program, Project Child Safe. This organization has given more than 37 million firearm safety kits since 2003.
CPD officer Aaron Andrews says he hopes the advice and locks they give during Saturday’s event will help keep the community safe but especially the youth.
