Video: Students at Heritage Elementary view solar eclipse

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Many eyes were on the sky Monday as the 2017 Solar Eclipse went across the United States.

Students in grades 4th-6th went outside to view the big event. Glasses were provided to the students. Everyone said they were pretty amazed at how quick the eclipse was.

“I was super excited because they rarely happen and one site, it said they come in pairs. So usually the lunar eclipse comes in two weeks before or two weeks after so I’m stoked for that too,” said 6th grader Reagan Merchant.

“What surprised me was when I first heard about it. I thought it was going to last for awhile because it feel like it orbits so slow, but it went by pretty quick,” said 6th grader Carter Cash.

The next solar eclipse by the way is in 2024.
