Video: An act of kindness takes flight for a birthday girl

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss.- A simple act of generosity helps give a Brooksville woman a birthday present she’ll never forget. On Thursday Joan Giesbrecht and her mother flew to Atlanta out of the Golden Triangle Airport, but it wasn’t just an ordinary flight for the mother and daughter.

Every night Joan goes to the airport to watch the airplane heading to Atlanta take off. A worker at the airport who noticed decided to take things a step further by purchasing her a ticket to actually get on the plane, instead of just watching it take off.

The flight left early Thursday. Joan’s mom says it was a great experience.

“We got to ride a Porsche and drive right beside the runway where the big planes come in. Took us to where the president comes in and took us to Delta sky club. It was really neat. She had a lot of fun,” said Yvonne Giesbrecht.

Joan was greeted with balloons and lots of hugs by several family members and friends when she landed Thursday night.
