VIDEO: Walk for Veterans
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A locally founded veterans foundation hosts a run to raise money and awareness for vets who’ve recently left the military.
Saturday at the Columbus soccer complex several dozen runners participated in the Richard Holmes, II Memorial Run. The funds raised from the annual 3 mile run go directly to local veterans.
The Holmes Foundation says it uses the money to provide counseling services and bill assistance. Executive Director Dr. Judie Holmes says it’s an honor to serve those that have served.
Drs. Judie and Richard Holmes founded the foundation after the death of their son Richard Earl Holmes, II an army vet who took his life at the age of 28 in 2011.
