VIDEO: This Year’s Trending Halloween Costumes
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Neighborhood streets and fall festivals will soon be crawling with vampires, superheroes, and princesses in search of treats.
Halloween brings big business to costume shops.
There are some new looks in costumes and especially makeup that make this year’s look seem all-the-more real, but of course, there are also the classics.
“It’s a lot more fun to come into a store where you can try on your outfits and be with your friends and, you know, start your good time in the store or at a store. It’s my favorite; it’s also stressful and tiring,” said owner of Costume Party, Connie Willsey.
Racks of costumes will be cleared out to people putting on these new faces for Halloween.
Workers at Costume Party in Starkville have been waiting.
“Halloween comes once a year, but we work toward it year-round. We are a full-time costume business; we’re not a pop-up store,” said Willsey.
During that year-round period, Costume Party is able to keep up with the latest trends in the costume world.
“This year, there is the light up costumes… those are popular. The facial scars are getting easier to apply,” explained Willsey.
No matter what’s in, some looks never go out of style.
“Even though there’s trendy stuff, the basics, the classics are still popular and still the best sellers in our store,” said Willsey.
Aside from these looks, stores cater to all kinds of preferences.
“I had a guy who was looking for green pants, and that’s something that’s going to be kind of hard to find. But we had five pairs of green pants, so we pulled out the right size for him. Another guy was wanting a long, furry jacket, and that’s another item that we pulled out of our warehouse. So we have unique items that really you can’t find anywhere else,” said Willsey.
For the next few days, businesses will sell and rent costumes of all looks this Halloween season.
