VIDEO: Educating Children On Drug Awareness
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Drug addiction is growing across the country and many believe early education can slow the trend.
That’s why the Lowndes County Alternative School hosted a drug forum on Thursday, October 26.
A panel of community advisors answered questions from students about drugs and alcohol.
Principal Antonio Magee says the forum allows students to realize the consequences.
“Twenty-five percent of students are either on drugs, or have been on drugs, and we just wanted to share some information with our students about the dangers of drugs,” says Magee.
The forum is part of Red Ribbon Week, which is the oldest drug prevention program in the country.
