VIDEO: Northside Christian Church Veterans Day Celebration

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point Northside Christian, opened the doors of the church Friday to celebrate and honor those who fought for our freedom.

The church extended the invitation to Veterans in Aberdeen, Columbus, and of course West Point. The heroes got to enjoy lunch catered by local White’s Catering Service.

Dr. Charles Davidson was the guest speaker. He delivered a message of appreciation to the vets in attendance.

The veterans who served in the Vietnam War  received a memories booklet, compiled by the federal government.

Event organizer Margaret Shelton says the veterans have done so much for us it’s only natural to show appreciation .

“There’s just a need I think to recognize those guys who’ve served our country well. The resource center along with our pastor decided we were going to do an appreciation day for veteran’s day for all the veterans. We are just so excited and we wanted to show them how much we appreciate them,”said Shelton.

This was the first Northside Church Veterans celebration however the members are planning to make it an annual event.
