Tupelo Holds Dancing With The King
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Tupelo Furniture Market is rocking with the tunes of Elvis this weekend.
It’s the 5th annual “Dancing with the King” which is all about celebrating Elvis’s legacy through dance.
The Tupelo Elvis Fan Club along with the Dance Studio sponsored the event. Of course all of the participants had to perform a dance to an Elvis song, including WCBI’s own Allie Martin and his partner Melissa Halbert.
“If you think about it nobody started dancing until there was music so when Elvis changed music he changed dancing too with over 700 songs there’s a song that you can ballroom to in Elvis’ repertoire so whatever kind of ballroom you want to do there’s an Elvis song that fits,” said Charlies Latour.
Latour says the event raises money for dance education scholarships that allow young people to pursue ballroom dance.
