Welfare Concern Situation

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A welfare concern turned into a possibly dangerous situation in Starkville earlier today, December 8.

Starkville Police responded to the call around 9:30 this morning, at this house off of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

S.P.D. Public Information Officer, Corporal Brandon Lovelady, says when officers arrived, the individual was armed with a handgun, threatening to harm himself.

That led to officers securing the area and redirecting traffic as the situation unfolded.

Everything was resolved an hour later with no injuries.

The individual was transported for medical evaluation.
