Lowndes County Bridge Repair

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County Supervisors vote to pass a state aid project.

The project will improve Canal Road Bridge out on Canal Road in Artesia.

Lowndes County Engineer Robert Calvert says the bridge is the worse one in the county and the only left with a low safety rate.

The project will be a couple of million dollars and is expected to last six months.

The county is waiting to get money from the Federal Bridge Replacement Program before construction can begin.

Calvert says the county is eligible for the federal money to cover all costs of the project.
