Mississippi Unemployment Numbers

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi ends the year with a benchmark on the labor front. The lowest unemployment rate in state history.

New numbers released Friday shows the November jobless rate sits at 4.8%.

That’s a drop from the October number and is the lowest ever recorded in Mississippi.

The labor force for non-farm jobs grew by 3,400 in November and pushed the number of working Mississippians to over 1.1 million which is the highest number in 9 years.

The number of state residents still looking for a job sits at 60,800.

That’s the fewest number of job seekeers since September 1979.
