Child Dies From Injuries Suffered In Sunday Crash

LOWNDES COUNTY (WCBI) – A 9 year old child involved in a Sunday morning crash between a tanker truck and a pickup in Lowndes County has died. 

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says Dakota Barnett, 9, of Columbus died Tuesday morning at a Jackson hospital.  He was one of four people in the pickup truck which was struck by the semi at the intersection of Spur Line Road and Highway 45 just after 8:30 AM Sunday morning.  54 year old Dorothy Bunton of Orlando, Florida and 10 year old Matthew Karr of Columbus died at the scene.
