Ole Miss honors Purple Heart recipients with special parking pass

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) – Something as simple as a parking space.

Landing one can be a big deal for students in a rush, but now, Ole Miss is using their spaces to honor special veterans.

You’re seeing video of Purple Heart recipient, Don Zielenski receiving the university’s first Purple Heart Parking Pass.

The special pass allows owners to park essentially anywhere on campus.

Zielenski, a sophomore at Ole Miss, says he’s proud to serve his country on and off the battlefield.

“We’ve made tremendous strides in the right direction for veterans on this campus and I think it’s gonna be a huge progression to show the community that we can not only serve our country on the battlefield, but we can continue to serve our country in the field of academics,” says Zielenski.

Ole Miss is one of four SEC schools to hold the Purple Heart University designation and is home to over 1,300 military-connected students.
