Starkville Main Break Hole Now Plugged
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The big hole created by yesterday’s water main break has been plugged.
Starkville Utility crews worked throughout Valentine’s Day to get South Montgomery Street back up and running.
Mayor Lynn Spruill says after investigating the break it appears to be a seal failure.
A tap that ran from the main line to a near by fire hydrant broke.
The mainline has been repaired and Spruill says as far as the road is concerned a more permanent fix is coming soon.
“We’re going to be overlaying with capital improvement projects that street area there at South Montgomery and Lynn Lane. We’re hoping that we can wait bout a month or so to totally cover it back up again, then repair it as a total project that will make it as though it never happened,” says Spruill.
Mayor Spruill says she expects the project to take place in the next week or two.
