Columbus Air Force Base honors the fallen with memorial
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – We are half way through police week.
Most of the events this week have been to celebrate those in service, but Wednesday we remember those who have fallen.
The Columbus Air Force Base met earlier Wednesday for the Fallen Defender Memorial.
The memorial honored the service men and women who died in the line of duty.
A slide show featuring the late service members started the event off.
It ended with the honor guard performing their own memorial service.
“Try to pay your respects to local law enforcement. You can do it for security forces members in the Air Force, for military police in the army, you can do it for your local law enforcement. Just show your respect, maybe call and say thank you to them and that would mean a lot and go a long way,” said Honor Guard NCO, Janessa Ebbert.
None of the 14 fallen defenders were associated with the Columbus Base.
