“Click it or Ticket” campaign kicks off in Starkville

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Drivers, listen up! Passing through Starkville without buckling up may not be the smartest move.

Starkville PD’s campaign of “Click It Or Ticket” begins Monday and will span for the next two weeks.

Memorial Day is just around the corner, and for law enforcement this is the unofficial start of summer.

In 2016, nearly half of automobile deaths recorded were unrestrained occupants.

Starkville PD would like to do their part to cut those stats in our area.

“Starkville Police Department, we are committed to your safety, and this is one of the ways that we feel that we can reduce injury or death by something as simple as clicking your seatbelt. A way we can remind you is by pulling you over or doing checkpoints to remind you, ‘Hey. Put our seatbelt on. It’s this simple, and it could save your life,” said Cpl. Brandon Lovelady.

If pulled over without a seatbelt on, the fine and court fees will run you up fifty-two dollars.
