Security Increased At Lamar County, Alabama Schools

LAMAR COUNTY, Ala. (WCBI) – The news of a social media threat at New Hope led other school districts to start taking extra precautions.

This lead to an increased security presence at all three schools in Lamar County.

Some schools do have officers on hand each morning, on a regular basis.

Sheriff Hal Allred says his department is aware of the threat in Lowndes County.

Superintendent of Education Vance Herron says no threats have been made against any school in the district.

If that were to occur, Herron says the incident would be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
