A clearer picture of the aftermath of last Saturday’s tornado
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Emergency management officials and Columbus city leaders have a clearer picture of the aftermath of last Saturday’s tornado.
The two groups met Friday to compare notes and continue fine-turning recovery plans.
One major item discussed was capturing all the damage in the city and county to request a federal declaration from the president.
Debris removal and power restoration were also discussed.
They also talked about preparing for another possible round of severe storms.
“We just want the people to be cautious out there this weekend. We know there is a possibility of severe weather again this weekend. Just be very cautious because there may be a tree was leaning from the last storm or a building. Be careful because any wind could probably push that tree on over on that house and destroy that home,” said Emergency Management Director Cindy Lawrence.
To help people get back on their feet, the city went out to areas impacted by the recent floods passing out cleaning buckets to flooded restaurants.
