Video: Absentee Ballots for Columbus’ Primary Election Now Available

COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)– Mississippi voters hoping to cast a ballot in the upcoming municipal primary elections have about two weeks to send in their voter registration application.

Additionally, Mississippians who are already registered to vote, but have recently moved or changed their name, must update their registration information in order to cast a ballot in the correct precinct on Primary Election Day.

Mississippi’s registration deadline is Saturday, April 1, 2017, or 30 days before primary polls open at 7 a.m. on May 2.  Municipal Clerks’ offices will be open on April 1 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to accept in-person applications.

Absentee ballots for Columbus’ primary election for mayor and council members are now available. You can pick them up at the registrar’s office on main street.

Along with regular business hours, the registrar’s office will be open March 27th through 30th from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M., and Saturday March 31st from 8 A.M. to Noon.

The deadline for absentee voting is Saturday, April 29th.

Ballots must be returned by mail before Monday May 1st at 5 P.M. in order to be counted.

The election is May 2nd.
