OKTIBBEHA CO. Miss. – (WCBCI)  It was a tragic day in Oktibbeha County for family members of three people who perished in a Wednesday morning fire on Bardwell Road.

“We worked through the night through somewhere around eleven to eleven thirty and it was just, visibility we couldn’t see smoke we got back out here about eight forty-five this morning and started over. And we have recovered three bodies,” said Sheriff Steve Gladney.

Volunteer firefighter Geraldine Rice and 23 year old Samuel Morris lost their lives in the fire. They are being hailed as heros. The two apparently went back into the home, to try to save 92 year old Celia Craig Robson. None of them survived.

“I mean its just a hard thing and I try to put myself in the family’s place. And I know how I’d feel if I was standing and waiting and hoping and praying you know that this would turn out different,” said Gladney.

A wing of the Longest Student Health Center Building at Mississippi State is already named in honor of one of the victims.

Celia Craige Robson is regarded as a pioneer in her field.

“She was very progressive physical therapist. She would, she was innovative. She would find things to do that were cutting edge and then bring them into the physical therapy world here,” said Dr. Robert Collins.

According to Dr Collins, who is now the director of the Longest Student Health Center, Robson taught him everything he knows.

The fire is still under investigation.
