Alabama Gearing Up for Rivalry Road Trip at Auburn
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WCBI/UA Athletics) – The University of Alabama football team practiced in full pads for two hours at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields on Tuesday afternoon in preparation for this weekend’s rivalry game with No. 6 Auburn.
The Crimson Tide continued to work on a gameplan to stop a Tiger rushing attack that ranks fourth in the SEC with an average of 244.0 yards per game. Not to be overlooked is Auburn’s stout defensive front, which also ranks third in the conference in rush defense. The Crimson Tide and Tigers are scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff at Jordan-Hare Stadium, which will air on CBS with the trio of Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce covering the action.
Alabama and Auburn will meet for the 82nd time this Saturday. Alabama holds a 45-35-1 (.555) lead in a series that dates back to the 1893 season. Alabama has had the upper hand in recent meetings, claiming seven of the last nine matchups. Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban is 9-6 all-time against Auburn, including a 7-3 mark in the Iron Bowl and a 3-2 record at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn is 1-4 against Alabama in his five years with the Tigers.
Earlier today, offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was selected as one of 15 semifinalists for the 2017 Broyles Award, the Frank and Barbara Broyles Foundation announced on Tuesday afternoon. The Broyles Award was created in 1996 recognizing Coach Frank Broyles’ legacy of selecting and developing great assistants during his almost two decades as head coach at Arkansas. Five finalists will be selected and invited to travel to Little Rock, Ark., where the winner will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 5th at the Marriott Hotel.
