Alabama pushes to execute inmate in pastor’s slaying

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Alabama is pushing to execute an inmate convicted of killing a country preacher with a sword during a robbery almost 30 years.

State attorneys asked the 11th U.S. Circuit of Appeals early Wednesday to deny a stay requested by 46-year-old Christopher Lee Price. He’s set to die by lethal injection on Thursday night.

The state contends Price is bringing up issues about Alabama’s lethal injection method that are already decided.

Price argues the state is rushing to execute him just two weeks before a June 10 trial date in his federal civil rights lawsuit over the state’s lethal injection practices.

Price was convicted of capital murder in the killing of Bill Lynn in 1991. Lynn was a minister in rural Fayette County.
