Alabama woman arrested on drug charge in Tishomingo County

TISHOMINGO COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A driver pulled over for an expired tag is now facing a drug charge.

Kimberly Mitchell, 52, of Leighton, Alabama was charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Mitchell was pulled over on Hwy 25, in Iuka, for a tag that seemed to be altered. Deputies suspected Leighton was under the influence of some kind of drug.

Deputies found prescription pills (hydrocodone) that Mitchell did not have a prescription for during a search of the car she was driving.

While being booked into Tishomingo County Jail, Mitchell told deputies she did not want to get caught bringing drugs into the jail. A corrections officer removed two bags of alleged meth from Mitchell.

Her bond was set at $7,500.
