Alleged thief arrested in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Good timing led Monroe County deputies to an accused thief.

Billy Dewayne Jones, 28, of Aberdeen was charged with Breaking and Entering and Grand Larceny.

Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said while a deputy was taking a report about a Smithville storage building burglary, someone spotted a familiar truck passing by.

The truck was then pulled over.

Cantrell told WCBI that bolt cutters and some stolen items from the storage building were found in Jones’ truck.

Jones remains in the Monroe County jail.

His bond has not been set.
