Authorities Investigating Deadly Wood Chipper Accident

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Lowndes County authorities are investigating a deadly accident Monday afternoon.

Coroner Greg Merchant tells WCBI it happened around 4:15 p.m. at 100 Rosecrest Drive, where GoBox is located.

Merchant says 57-year-old Phillip Harris went into a clogged wood chipper to fix it, when a large roller came down on him, killing him.

It’s not known if Harris worked for GoBox, or another company.

OSHA has been contacted.

Merchant says the incident appears to be accidental, but it’s still under investigation.
