Bang for the Buck: Hunting Big Business in Mississippi

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- One of the biggest money makers in Mississippi doesn’t happen on Main Street.

It’s part of the ag-economy that many business owners are finding profitable.

There is more than 1,000 miles of public hunting land in Mississippi.

But there’s plenty of local private land, with hunting lodges, hunting trips, and tour guides.

The amount of product needed to produce fruitful fields is no bother to Frank Jones.

“Every now and then we’ll get something from other local stores like sports Academy hunting stuff of course you can imagine all of the shells and things like that, that these hunting stores sell this time of year so it’s a pretty big economic impact for the town,” said Jones.

There is more information about hunting at Visit Mississippi and at the website for the Mississippi Wildlife and Fisheries Department.

You can check those out for the details.
