BREAKING -Nutt Sues Ole Miss For Alleged False Statements

OXFORD (WCBI) – Former Ole Miss Head Football Coach Houston Nutt is accusing the school and it’s athletics  foundation of conspiring to defame him.

A federal lawsuit filed Wednesday says current head coach Hugh Freeze, Athletic Director Ross Bjork and others orchestrated a publicity campaign to blame Nutt for the schools NCAA investigation.   The suit says Freeze intentionally lied to journalists in the weeks prior to National Signing Day in order to keep recruits interested in Ole Miss.  Nutt says he has numerous cases where Freeze and Bjork told journalists the bulk of the NCAA charges could be linked to Nutt.

The former coach is seeking lost wages along with punitive damages from the school.

Ole Miss Chief Legal Officer Lee Tyner said this in response to the lawsuit: “We have not yet been served with the lawsuit, but we are aware it has been filed. We were provided a copy a short time ago. We will carefully review Coach Nutt’s claims and respond in due course.”
