OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — A record-breaking quarterback has seen his collegiate career come to an end.

Ole Miss confirmed on Sunday evening that their senior quarterback, Chad Kelly, is out for the season.

Here was the official statement from Ole Miss:

“Ole Miss senior quarterback Chad Kelly suffered a torn ACL and torn lateral meniscus in Saturday’s game against Georgia Southern. He will undergo season-ending surgery this week.”

Kelly will go down in the record books as one of the greatest quarterbacks in Ole Miss history.

He holds the single season and single game passing yards records at Ole Miss, surpassing Eli & Archie Manning in both of those categories. He is also tied with Eli for the single season record in passing touchdowns.

According to CBS Sports, Kelly is currently projected as a second round pick in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft.
