California man accused of several child sex charges in Lowndes County

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A California man was accused of getting a Lowndes County teen to send him sexually explicit pictures of video.

Ryan Abrams was indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly coercing or enticing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct, along with receiving visual materials of the minor engaging sexually explicit conduct on Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram.

Abrams was also indicted for a charge of allegedly enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity, which also violates California law. The age of consent there is 18.

Lowndes County Detective Lt. Tony Cooper said the sheriff’s office is working with several agencies in the investigation.

Abrams lives in the Los Angeles area.

Investigators believed the reported incidents happened in March and April of this year.

Abrams faces up to life in prison for one of the charges and over $750,000 in fines.
