Celebrating More Than A Century Of Life
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – In November we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.
Saturday, in Tupelo a woman who was alive during that time celebrated her 104th birthday at the Rosewood Nursing facility in Tupelo.
Doris McCarter was born in Pontotoc on February 28th, 1914, 6 months before the start of World War One.
“We farmed and milked two cows and worked from daylight to dark. And everybody else did. We didn’t know we was poor and nobody else thought it too,” said McCarter.
MacCarter has an 84 and 75 year old sons, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren AND one great great grandchild on the way.
