Clay County 18-year-old charged with child sex crime

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Bond was set for a Clay County young man accused of touching a child.

Calvin James Perkins, 18, was charged with Attempted Sexual Battery and Touching a Child for Lustful Purposes.

Investigators combed the county looking for Perkins on Thursday.

This afternoon, Perkins’ bond was set at $100,000.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said the victim was taken to Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson and is in good condition.

“Sheriff’s office received a call in the early morning hours of Thursday, about the incident. The investigators arrived, Mr. Perkins had fled the scene, said Sheriff Scott.  “At this time, we discovered that our victim was going to be under the age of 12. Mr. Perkins was taken into custody late yesterday afternoon.”
