Clay County Accident Leaves One Injured

MHP PRESS RELEASE

MHP responded to a one vehicle MVA on US 45 Alt around 6:00 A.M. Friday morning at Tibbee Bridge south of West Point.
A white 2004 Ford F250 was traveling south on US 45A when it veered off the left side of the highway. The driver overcorrected his steering to the right, causing the Ford to travel back into the highway, cross both southbound lanes and collided with the bridge guard railing. The collision caused the Ford to overturn and come to rest on the west side of the railing.

The driver of the Ford, 22 year old Derreck M. Franks of Nettleton, MS sustained moderate injuries in the collision. Franks was transported by ambulance to BMH for further medical treatment.
Franks was not wearing his seatbelt.
The accident remains under investigation by MHP
