Columbus Chamber Lunch
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce receives an economic development update today, November 9.
Golden Triangle Development LINK C.E.O. Joe Max Higgins talked with the lunchtime crowd.
He touched on a project in West Point and the industrial park in Oktibbeha County.
Higgins talked about the difficult task of recruiting companies to the state, whether it be tax policies or a declining population.
His main focus on Columbus centered around Leigh Mall and its lack of tenants, along with a comprehensive plan for future retail growth on the Highway 45 corridor.
“That’s probably the heartbeat of, if not Columbus, Lowndes County, and redevelopment of that whole 45 corridor with new businesses and new retailers coming in could give us a shot in the arm,” says GTR LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins.
Higgins also said Leigh Mall representatives have not called LINK representatives back to discuss business opportunities.
He says a fitness center is coming to the mall.
