Columbus Fire Preps For Expo
PRESS RELEASE
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Thursday, June 16, 2016, Columbus Fire and Rescue will set up its Fire Expo 2016 in the Kroger parking lot on Hwy. 45 N. The event is from 9:00am until 6:00pm and will feature the department’s vehicles, equipment, and personnel, with an added auto extrication demonstration around 1:00pm. Columbus Fire and Rescue’s car seat technicians will be available on site to properly install car seats for interested parents.

The department hopes to make the expo an annual event. “We receive so many calls from our local schools and daycares requesting to see our trucks, and the kids really enjoy seeing our equipment. We’ve purchased some newer vehicles and equipment recently, so the fire expo is our way of displaying all of our vehicles and equipment in one location for the citizens of Columbus; a kind of meet and greet. Many of our citizens don’t realize how much equipment we have and all of the local and statewide responsibilities we have as a department. We hope that this goes a long way in helping those who have always wondered about our vehicles and equipment, and how it all operates,” says Fire Chief Martin Andrews.
