Columbus High School Teacher Charged In Memphis-Based Testing Taking Scheme

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WCBI) – A Columbus High School special education teacher has been indicted in connection with test-taking scheme.

Darcel Gardner is charged with federal charges of mail fraud and aiding and abetting.

She is one of 13 people accused of being involved in a scam to hire a Memphis-based group to take teacher certification exams.

Gardner has her master’s from the University of West Alabama and taught in Pickens County before being hired at Columbus High.

She is free on 5 thousand dollar bond.

She is due in federal court in Memphis on October 3rd.
