Columbus man accused of giving victims “funny money”

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus man was accused of giving two victims $67,000 in counterfeit money.

Scottie Boykin was charged with three counts of Uttering Counterfeit Obligations, one count of Interstate Threats or Extortion and one count of Stalking.

He was indicted by a federal grand jury.

Investigators said the incidents happened in December 2017 and September 2018.

Boykin was accused of threatening and extorting one of the victims.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Boykin’s bond was set $25,000.

If convicted, he faces up to 27 years in prison and $750,000 in fines.
