Columbus police investigating carjacking that led to pursuit

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police said a carjacking at Walmart led to a pursuit and ended with the vehicle crashing into a church.

Officers spotted the stolen vehicle about Wednesday, about 3 a.m.

The chase ended at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on 12 Street South.

Police Chief Fred Shelton said the incident started in the parking lot of the retail store about 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

After the stolen vehicle slammed into the church, the suspects ran from the scene.

Shelton said no arrests have been made.
