Video: A Company Will Study The Columbus Public Works Department
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus Councilmen vote to allow a company to study the public works department.
ClearWater Solutions will examine the department’s operations, budget, personnel, and equipment.
The private company asked the city to do the study at its Tuesday night meeting.
The goal is to see if a private company could lower costs for the city.
“The study will not cost the city anything. They said it would take several weeks to complete and then at that time, then they’ll be back and say here’s what we can provide. The main thing the city is going to look at is, can the level of service be the same as it is now, with the city employees,” says Columbus Public Information Officer, Joe Dillon.
The Columbus Public Works Department has 63 employees and a $3.3 million dollar budget.
