Deadly start to Christmas Day in Lowndes County

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lowndes County woman died in a late night accident.

Lowndes County Investigator Brent Swan said deputies responded to a shots fired call on Aileen Drive just before midnight Monday.

Instead of a shooting victim. deputies found a woman pinned between a car and a tree. Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says the victim is 32-year-old Deanna Clark who lived at the home where the accident took place.

Merchant says the preliminary cause of death is blunt force trauma but adds an autopsy will take place to provide more information.

Lowndes County investigators are still trying piece together the events that led up to the incident, but have a 29-year-old male in custody who was the alleged driver of the car.
