Delta Sigma Theta ‘Youth Career Fair’

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- WCBi had the pleasure of participating in a career fair filled with a diverse group of professionals.

The Golden Triangle Alumni chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority held its annual ‘Youth Career Fair.’

The event centered around age groups from middle schoolers to young adults looking to change or start a new career path.

Media professionals, firefighters, nurses, educators, government officials, and STEM-oriented professionals were all on hand at the event.

“Although we call it the ‘Youth Career Fair,’ We know that we are trying to get our youth involved in things that they don’t know about because, in the community, they are limited to things that they see at school,” said Lula Townsend, President of the Golden Triangle Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. “Sometimes their families don’t expose them to other things that are available. Even their classes that they take in school guide the career path that they go in. So we felt it would be great if we could get careers here from different aspects of life to give them the opportunity to see what’s available.”

The event was at the Griffin United Methodist Church on Main Street in Starkville.
