Downtown stores prepare for last minute Christmas shoppers

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- The countdown to Christmas is on, and the lines of last-minute shoppers are long.

But, there’s no need to panic if you’re still looking for the perfect gift.

Your Christmas solution could be closer than you think.

It’s common to wait until the final week before Christmas to start crossing off your shopping list.

That’s why local stores are making sure you have everything you need for Christmas morning.

It’s no longer a matter of weeks – Christmas is days away!

While some have powered through their shopping lists, others are still on the hunt for those last minute gifts.

“I’m usually done by Thanksgiving, and now I’m panicking because I’m not ready for Christmas this week,” said customer Tina Scholtes.

Scholtes wants to make sure her family wakes up with gifts under the tree, that’s why she comes to Park Place Boutique and Salon in downtown Columbus.

“They have stuff for children, they have stuff for men. They have stuff for women, they have pottery, they gifts, they have wonderful ornaments,” said Scholtes.

Scholtes isn’t alone.

Taylor Mclemore said there has been a steady stream of customers in the Christmas home stretch.

“We haven’t been able to sit down, like at all so we’ve been going constant all day long helping customers with wrapping,” said employee Mclemore.

“We’re going to have sales usually up until the day of Christmas.All the way from 20% off, we have half off items,” said employee Brooke Duett.

Park Place is offering special discounts to help stuff your stockings.

“We have gifts starting a $5, we have gifts under $20. We have natural life in stock that will be good happy’s for your friends. And gifts cards if you don’t know what to get for someone so they can get it on their own,” said Duett.

“You can just come in and get something for everybody,” said Scholtes.

Park Place is extending their hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. leading up to Christmas Day.
