Driver Killed In Winston 18-Wheeler Crash

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A portion of Highway 25 in Winston County was shutdown Thursday after a fatal 18-wheeler crash.

The crash happened before 8 AM, about nine miles north of Louisville.

State troopers say 60 year old John Denver Smith of Houston died in the crash.  The preliminary investigation says Smith ran off the edge of the Highway 25 and then flipped as he tried to regain control of his truck.   Winston County Coroner Scott Gregory pronounced Smith dead on the scene.

Northbound lanes were closed, while crews clear the scene.

The big rig was the only vehicle involved in the accident.
