Egg Bowl game ball delivered to Oxford

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- The Battle for the Golden Egg pits families against one another, but Monday MSU and Ole Miss work together.

ROTC cadets from both schools help deliver the game ball to Oxford.

Mississippi State students left campus at 4 AM to make it to Calhoun City by noon.

That’s where the hand off to Ole Miss cadets happened on the town square.

The 92 mile run helps the ROTC cadets complete a mission, and it’s fun for the community.

“One of the neatest parts about this is all the kids up here the cadets from both schools will join together and they make two laps around the square before the returning team takes the bottom and the kids run with him it’s just a good time,” said Chamber President Lauren Edwards.

The Egg Bowl kicks off Thanksgiving night at 6:30 in Oxford.
