Extension Cord To Blame For Fire Inside Apartment

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A bit of a scare Thursday evening after a fire strikes a downtown Columbus apartment.

A crowd gathered as crews investigated the scene at 115 5th Street south around 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Columbus Fire and Rescue Spokesman, Anthony Colom, says the cause appears to be from an extension cord.

The cord was under the flooring running downstairs to the business below.

Fortunately no one was hurt.
