Federal Charges Follow Traffic Stop On Trace
OXFORD (WCBI)- An Oxford mother faces a series of federal charges stemming from a high speed chase involving Natchez Trace Park rangers.
Deandrewnette A Harris of 401 Hathorn Road is charged with Fleeing a Law Enforcement officer, contributing to the neglect of a child and other traffic offenses stemming from a February 2017 traffic stop on the Parkway in Lee County. Rangers were in the process of arresting Harris and towing her van when she took off topping 80 miles per hour. She took the Interstate 22 exit, fled into Tupelo before taking the Veterans Boulevard exit and coming back westbound on I-22. Rangers resumed the pursuit when she passed through Natchez Trace property again. The chase topped 100 miles per hour before park rangers dropped the pursuit on Highway 9 . In the court filings , rangers say Harris placed the child in the car at risk by traveling at the high speeds. She is free on bond following an initial court appearance.
