Flight Training Resumes At CAFB

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Pilots and students at the Columbus Air Force Base can now take back to the skies.

Earlier this month, flights in T-6 Texan II air crafts were grounded.

The 19th Air Force Commander gave the go-ahead to start flying Tuesday.

Planes were grounded after reports of multiple unexplained physiological events experienced by instructor and student pilots at several bases, including Columbus Air Force Base, in January.

The reports were classic hypoxia, which is caused by oxygen deprivation.

After an multi-agency investigation, it was found that component failures were affecting the topline performance of oxygen pressure and flow.

CAFB expects all of its T-6 aircraft to be ready to fly by the end of the day.
