Giving To The Community

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus Salvation Army is working to make a difference in the lives of local senior citizens.

200 elderly residents arrived at the Salvation Army to pick up food boxes leading into the Christmas holiday.

International Paper Company spent two days partnering with Salvation Army.

The company packed the boxes they donated, one day and distributed the food box today, December 20.

Salvation Army Commanding Officer Lt. Jennifer Gram says this is just one small thing they can do to give back but to keep it up they need the community’s help.

“We’re just excited to be apart of the community that we are helping. I just want to give this plug that we are down to our last three days of Kettle our Kettle season. So please stop by those kettle so we can keep these efforts going,” says Graham.

Today’s event went from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
